From the Superintendent

D60 Community,

With spring break right around the corner, I want to take a moment to thank our families for all you do for our Wildcats. The support, encouragement, and partnership you provide make a real difference for our students, and I am grateful for the important role you play in the life of our schools.

This school year has given us opportunities to reflect on how far we have come while also continuing to respond to the needs of our students and community. Like any school year, it has brought both celebrations and challenges, but through it all, our focus has remained the same: doing what is best for our Wildcats.

As you will see in the important dates listed below, the end of the school year is approaching quickly. There is still a lot to look forward to in the weeks ahead — opportunities to gather, celebrate, encourage, and support our students as they finish the year strong. I also hope spring break gives your family a chance to slow down a bit, enjoy time together, and talk with your child about their school year. What are they proud of? What have they enjoyed most? What are they excited about as we head into the final stretch?

Our staff remains committed to making school a place where students feel known, supported, and encouraged. In the weeks ahead, we look forward to celebrating our eighth grade students as they prepare for high school and to recognizing the many ways our students shine through their learning, artwork, performances, and daily growth.

In D60, our mission is to foster a safe, inclusive community that empowers and inspires lifelong curiosity for learning. That mission matters deeply to us. We want our schools to be places where students feel they belong, where curiosity is encouraged, where mistakes are part of learning, and where community is valued.

When we return from break, we will carry that focus with us into the final weeks of the 2025–26 school year. I am looking forward to seeing our Wildcats back on Monday, April 6, rested, recharged, and ready to finish the year strong!

Warm regards,

Dr. Sean Nugent

Westview Hills 50th Anniversary

As we continue to celebrate 50 years of Westview Hills Middle School, we are once again throwing things back, but this time we won't go too far back. Check out the newspaper highlight from 2019 highlighting the ribbon cutting to reveal the renovated schools.

"District voters approved a $28 million referendum in March 2018, which was devoted to a number of projects at Westview Hills and Holmes, including classroom enclosure, the installation of new flooring and lighting and the addition of new wings," said the article.

There are some familiar faces and names in the article, showing the long-term dedication to Maercker D60 for so many members of the community and educators.

"As a member of the board of education, I am in awe of the dedication of our district administrators, building principals and staff members working alongside many of the hardworking architects and technicians to see these projects through to fruition," said former board member Mary Satchwell at the time.

Check out 2025-26 Reflections Gallery

This program offered by National PTA encourages our students to explore and express themselves through the arts. Our wildcats have the opportunity to create original works to show us their artistic ability and creativity in expressing a common theme.

The theme chosen for the 2025-26 school year was "I Belong!"

Congratulations to three D60 students who earned a state honorable mention
