On Saturday, Jan. 10, the Maercker D60 PTA hosted a great event last weekend that provided wonderful information for 8th graders and their families. Donuts and Decisions provided a chance for current students and families to hear from Westview Alumni as they prepare to transition to high school. They were able to ask questions and hear about everything from course selections, sports, club, and social life at Hinsdale South, Hinsdale Central, and Downers Grove North. 

The event was a tremendous success, providing meaningful support to both students and parents during this important milestone. We appreciate everyone who helped plan and participate, and we are grateful for the continued partnership that makes opportunities like this possible for our community!

In case you missed it, on Friday, Jan. 9, the district launched a new web page to provide updates on the work taking place to address the financial challenges that affect how we plan for the future.

Our costs are increasing faster than inflation, while state funding has not kept pace. As a result, the district has spent more than it has taken in over the past several years in order to continue meeting our commitments to students and the community. We have already taken steps to control costs while protecting classroom instruction. However, additional actions will be needed to ensure the district’s long-term financial stability.

Through this Financial Information Hub, we will share regular updates, explain how we arrived at this point, answer common questions, and outline ways you can participate in the process. This page will serve as a central place for information as we work to be transparent, proactive, and clear.

Is your little one ready to start preschool either this year or next year? Come learn all about Maercker Preschool on Jan. 28 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Holmes School! You’ll have the opportunity to meet teachers and discover a day in the life of a preschooler here.

Did you know: Young learners can join our Preschool programming when they turn three! If you want to join us for this school year (2025-26), connect with us for upcoming screenings. Maercker Preschool serves students ages three through five within a positive, nurturing environment that fosters social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth and development!

Kindergarten Parent Night for the 2026-27 school year is coming up on Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Holmes Primary School!

Parents of incoming Kindergarten students are invited to join us from 6-7 p.m. for Kindergarten Parent Information, followed by a Dual Language Information Session from 7-7:30 p.m. 

Kindergarten at Holmes Primary Schools is a wonderful place to learn and grow through hands-on learning and creating important connections with a love of learning!

January is National School Board Month!

Thank you to our board members who make important decisions for the best education and wellbeing for our students.

Mark your calendars! The D60 BPAC is hosting a family concert with 123 Andrés! Join us on Thursday, Feb. 5 in the Holmes Primary Gym for a fun-filled and energetic show in English and Spanish from this Grammy Award-winning duo. The BPAC meeting starts at 6 p.m. and the concert will kick off at 6:30 p.m.

Back by popular demand, this concert is sure to be a good time for families complete with dancing, crowd participation, and celebrating in both English and Spanish. Don't miss it!

The annual Maercker PTA Science Fair will take place on Saturday, Jan. 31

-1st - 8th grade students can participate
