April 2025 Updates

Welcome Back!

We hope you enjoyed a week of adventure, near or far, away from the school routine. The last eight weeks of the 24-25 school year are ahead of us and we still have lots of learning and growing to do!

Help us make the most of the next two months by making sure your kiddos stay healthy, attend school everyday, and arrive at school on time! Your children’s growth and development, like springtime, is filled with new beginnings, lots of potential, and the blossoming of something beautiful!

Let’s work together to provide students with the best conditions to blossom into amazing human beings!

Parent Coffee Focused on Student Technology Use

The next D60 Parent Coffee will take place today (Wednesday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m.) at Maercker School. We will be talking about technology use including the proposed updates to student Chromebook usage at home.

In assessing the use of technology and finding ways to address potential concerns, we collaborated with staff, and families to discuss the best path forward. This collaborative process resulted in recommendations that are grounded in current best practices and community priorities.

If you are unable to attend and would like to submit feedback or ask any questions about the topic of technology use, please email Westview Hills Principal Allister Scott.

Cultural Celebrations

April is National Arab American Heritage Month! Students at Holmes will take this time to recognize and celebrate the achievements and contributions of Arab Americans to American society, culture, and history.

In March we celebrated Disability Awareness Month thanks to Maercker PTA Volunteers and author of Hi, Max, Malena Lindberg, and her brother Max! Malena’s book helps kids understand why inclusion and empathy are important. We are appreciative of the support around monthly cultural celebrations! We couldn’t do it without you! Check out the fun pictures below!

D60 Cultural Festival

We are excited to announce that we are making some changes to the annual Cultural Festival! In an effort to provide a more inclusive and enjoyable experience for our community, we have decided to split it into two separate occasions. This way, everyone can have the opportunity to enjoy the cultural performances as well as the cultural festival activities and food. We encourage you to attend both events and show your support for our talented performers, while also learning about the rich diversity of our district. Visit the PTA website to RSVP for both events.  We look forward to celebrating with you!
